The same title can mean different work in different homes
Every search begins by understanding who lives in the home, who already works there, what needs support, and what the new hire will be responsible for.
A House Manager in Manhattan may lead a staffed residence; one in Park City may spend more time on travel, guests, children, and multiple homes.
Together, we define the responsibilities, reporting line, schedule, compensation, travel, and working arrangement. The title follows the work.
Household roles
Some homes need one experienced professional. Others need a team. We clarify the work with you first.
- House Manager
- Oversees the daily operation of the home, including staff, vendors, schedules, maintenance, supplies, and household standards.
- Estate Manager
- Provides broader oversight across residences, larger teams, budgets, projects, contractors, grounds, and operating standards.
- Director of Residences
- Leads operations across one or more residences, often overseeing senior staff, vendors, projects, travel, and consistent standards between homes.
- Butler
- Provides formal service, guest care, table service, valet and wardrobe support, and front-of-house coordination.
- Executive Housekeeper
- Leads housekeeping standards, routines, inventories, laundry and wardrobe care, and may supervise a housekeeping team.
- Nanny
- Provides childcare based on the children’s ages, routines, schedule, travel, and family preferences.
- Family Assistant
- Combines family support with practical administration such as calendars, errands, driving, travel, and household coordination.
- Private Chef
- Plans and prepares meals around dietary needs, preferences, entertaining, schedule, and travel.
- Personal Assistant
- Manages the client’s calendar, travel, appointments, correspondence, purchases, and personal administration.
- Chauffeur
- Provides safe, reliable transport and oversees the proper care of household vehicles.
- Domestic Couples & Household Teams
- For households that need two complementary professionals or a coordinated team.

A résumé shows where someone has worked. We also assess how they communicate, make decisions, protect private information, work with others, and respond when plans change.
We introduce candidates only when we believe they are equal to the work and suited to the household.
Be clear about the schedule and conditions
Roles may be live-out, live-in, rotational, seasonal, travel-based, or split across several residences. Before presenting the role, we confirm the schedule, accommodation where applicable, travel, days off, reporting line, compensation, and on-call expectations.
